Kitty played, but she did not play well, oh no. She was a little worried out the ball hitting her ("It’s not soft!"), and her hand eye coordination when it came to swinging the bat was lacking. She almost took Alex out by flinging the bat backwards at one point, and it smashed into him. Thankfully umpires have lots of padding ect.
She totally broke the no powers rule, by phasing at one point, while attempting to catch the ball in her glove (she thought it was going to hit her, so she phased). She had a lot of fun though, even if she didn’t understand the rules at all, and had to have them explained to her repeated times.
At no point was she let near the pitchers mound.
Rogue has a little trouble not using her superhuman strength and agility. She can't exactly turn it off, or anything. But she does make an effort to play as if she's at regular strength. Except for when she's pitching, and then she convienently forgets about limiting her powers.
She also drags Remy along to play (are we surprised?), and then spend most of the BBQ afterwards being couple-y and stuff.
Oui, what she said. Not much for softball, but I'm not gonna say no to a friendly challenge. *grin*
Or to quality time with my girlfriend
Softball is fun, or something. I'm sure it is.
Quality time is good.
Piotr *could* be catcher, without any padding, just going metal, but he feels that Jamie's faster around the field than him, and besides. No powers, yeah? So he sets himself up as pitcher. After a couple of innings, Piotr and the dupes have worked out some serious plays. Because Jamie's naturally competitive, and Piotr's showing off for kitty. He bats at number 4, cleanup, regularly smashing rogue over the makeshift fence, early in the game at least. It becomes a friendly comptetion, Rogues throwing faster and faster 'bullets' down at Piotr, (causing Alex to
squeal like a girl and jump out of harms way more than once) and him cheating just slighty, forming his hands into metal to absorb the shock of the 80+ mph missiles of leather and cork coming towards him. And hitting it out of the park. In the end, of that little private battle, Piotr had hit 6 over the fence, and been struck out three times. He talked companionably with rogue after the game making sure she was fine with their little rivalry, and then spending the BBQ being *very* couply with Kitty.
Betsy was there... but had a bit of a rough game as well... she was catching for the non-Jamie team (cause alex was ump, right, not catcher...?) and by the end of the game her hand was smarting from Rouge's pitches. And... after hitting a double and sliding into second, she took most of the skin off the outside of her left knee, which hurt like a bugger, but she played the rest of the game before going to the girls bathroom to wash it up.
((Sorry I wasn't on when you came back, but I had to work the next day. I've got the log saved if you want to try and play the rest out via comments, or if we can manage to arrange some online time in the next couple of days or so.))
((it's all good... sorry I was away so long... I'll try to get some time later this week and maybe catch you online so we can finish))
[[ Uhh, sure, Alex was ump. My dad, and my sporty friends have now all declared me a lost cause when it comes to softball. Either way, Alex was the guy who had all the padding and the face mask thing that looks vaguley like a gollie mask, but with bars, not all solid like a gollie mask. Yhea, done rambling now ^^]]
Poe was so there, covering first base and occasionally center field. He didn't do too badly, considering he hadn't played baseball/softball in close to eight years. He even managed to pull off a double play about halfway through the game.
Only once did he give in to the temptation to use his powers: he used a well-placed gust of wind to push the ball over the fence and bring in two runs for his team. No one said anything at the time, so he thought he got away with it...but who knows?
And then he totally pigged out at the BBQ. Because food is good.
Jamie goes all out with his dupes. Not only is he the team with Piotr, he's also the cheering crowd, the cheerleaders and the chewing tobacco-spitting managers. His outfield guys are constantly yelling encouraging words and rhymes to Piotr.
He yells profanity taunts at the other team constantly, including an eventual distraught Jubilee who breaks the no-powers rule and shoots off, literally, at the pompon-clad Jamie cheerleaders.
The outfielders smash into each other only once and there is a delay of game as the extra dupes that came out are gathered and returned.
In the end, he's not too freaked by Piotr crushing him in his palms, like he has been, and tells him they are quite a team. He acts pretty oblivious that he annoyed anyone on the other team because, to him, it was just a game and that's the way Jamie is.
Being the competitive and over excitable dude that he is, he is exhausted at days end and keeps his dupes out for a while as they rest up.
Jubilee is there. She's pretty decent at the game and plays third base. She's decked out in a Yankees baseball shirt, a backwards Mets cap and some extra shorty-short cutoffs, in hopes that Poe will notice from his second base spot (one who does, Jamie, taunts her all day, "I can see your ass!").
She hits a couple doubles, a single and lots of fouls and scores a couple times, doing a little sexy dance each time. But, by the end of the day, the Jamie's taunts get to her. She shoots fireworks at the cheerleader dupes, knocking them down.
She also give a special fireworks show for the BBQ, but keeps it short, thinking that she doesn't want to overkill.
She watched Piotr and Kitty, then Rogue and Remy, and sits near and talks to Poe all night.
